The Walt Disney Imagineers are the department responsible for the design and development of the Disney theme parks. It was first created in 1952, by Walt Disney himself, to begin the design and construction of the first Disney theme park in California. It was first known as WED Enterprises, the name formed from the initials of Walter Elias Disney. The Imagineers are known for their ability and expertise in blending creativity and technological advancements to create a unique experience. One of these technological advancements is Audio-Animatronics. These are the figures that are used throughout the parks and in dark rides to tell the story of beloved Disney features. Many of the concepts are "blue sky speculation", meaning that they propose ideas as though there are no limitations. Imagineers believe that if it can be dreamt, it can be built. All of the Disney theme parks are built with the knowledge that they are never finished.
“Disneyland will never be completed as long as there’s imagination left in the world.”
